Welcome to my web site!
Within the pages you will find a little about me, my background and the way I work.  But mostly the pages illustrate some of the gardens I have completed, including a few words about the clients' brief and my solutions, together with some photos and a structural plan of each garden. I hope you enjoy your journey through these images and words and perhaps, as a result, you will feel inspired enough to get in touch with me about a project of your own.

"When your garden is finished, I hope it will be more beautiful than you had anticipated, require less care than you had expected, and have cost only a little more than you had planned."

T.D. Church - Gardens are for People.

"We are stardust, we are golden, and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden."

Joni Mitchell - Woodstock.

Examples of Four Gardens

I have selected four very different gardens to highlight my work. These are:

  • A contemporary courtyard garden attached to a converted barn.
  • A large country garden with a water garden, including two pools connected by a stream, set within an undulating landscape.
  • A terrace and deck with an infinity pool and cascade for a steeply sloping garden
  • A new building surrounded by uninspiring bare soil left by builders, which was transformed by an arts and crafts pallette. This design includes mosaics, a living willow arch, and a specially commissioned metal arbour.

Although the above gardens are so varied and present very different challenges, the final result is a strong and balanced structual layout and a rich contrast in building materials. The planting acts as a softening device bringing additional contrast in colour, form and texture. High performance plants have priority in these schemes. Once completed these gardens look very comfortable in their surroundings, as if they have been there forever!
