A contemporary courtyard attached to a converted barn.
My client asked for a contemporary design which included water features and a parking area. The materials were to be natural and the plants bold and unfussy.
A pivotal feature of this design was the view through the lobby into the courtyard, which became a lozenge-shaped paved area with inlaid planting at its centre, terminating in a circular raised bed containing an olive tree. Also included was a small pool with water cascading over a sandstone ball, and a raised canal brimming with water, defined by four impressive sandstone planters at each corner.
